My name is Anne Kelly and I am a 52 year old, married, mother of three. I'm married to Brian (51) and have one son, Paul (23), and two daughters, Sinead (20) and Orla (17). I was born in 1951 in Kilmahamogue, which is 6 miles from Ballycastle. My parents were Jim and Bridget McGill. I have one older brother, Seamus, and two younger brothers, Gerard (deceased) and Hugh. I went to Ballinlea Primary School and Cross and Passion College Secondary School. I did not particularly like school and was glad to get that part of my life over with. I now regret not learning more when I was at school. I started working with the Northern Bank Ltd in 1970. In 1978 I married Brian Kelly and in 1980 we had our first child Paul. In 1983 Sinead was born and in 1986 Orla was born. In 1993 my father died from an aneurysm and 13 months later my brother, Gerard, died from cancer. In 1996 I left the bank as my mother's health was not so good and we took her into our home where she still is. She is 91 and suffers from Osteoporosis but apart from that she is doing well.
I live in a small town called Ballycastle, set on the North East coastline of Ireland deep in the Glens of Antrim. The population of Ballycastle is approximately 4,500 and brings both bustling life in the summer months and a cosy snug atmosphere when the cold weather draws in. My town is dominated by dramatic headland of Fairhead, with cliffs at up to 100m high, which can be found a few kilometres East along the coastline, and by Knocklayed (517m), a domed mountain, to the South. The area is famous for being one of the best locations to stop of while visiting the outstanding North Antrim Coast (including the Giant's Causeway), and boasts many attractions, including "the Auld Lammas Fair", Ireland's oldest.
